About Me

Sydney singer-songwriter Paula Punch has become a regular at the Django at Camelot venue with her band, The Fireflys. Live appearances often spotlight a local showcase for other local artists she has dubbed The Punch Sessions, with special guests including such popular acts as Abi Tucker, Tania Bowra, Glenn Bidmead, Dan Mullins, Lisa Schouw, and Tania Sparke. 2019 saw Punch opening the stage with Russell Morris, Karise Eden and Renee Geyer at the Camelot Lounge to widespread fan and critical acclaim.

Punch toured California in 2018 with New Zealand – born Nashville artist Jackie Bristow and her past shows included supports for Ed Kuepper, the Gadflys, and Neil Murray.

Paula Punch’s debut LP “Don’t Look Down” was recorded 2018 in Robin Gist’s living room studio with two singles placing Top 5 in ASA competition’s Indie Rock category.

2019 saw the release of her first EP album, “Lost Horizon Sessions” which was recorded solo with an open-tuned guitar and mixed by ‘Groove’ Myers 10 years previously.

Songs by Paula Punch mix blue tones with uplifting themes of empowerment. Punch Park Records has described her sound as “unique and diverse” while Punch herself simply calls it indie folk rock.

Paula Punch’s upcoming “Song to the Trees” LP will be her first official studio album, recorded at Electric Avenue Studios by Philip Punch, Robin Gist and Jem Hoppe-Smith. On it she is accompanied by her veteran crew of celebrated players:

Robin Gist, guitar (Girl Overboard), Marko Simec, keys and accordion (Waiting for Guinness, Soul Movers, Rufino and the Coconuts), Mike Rix, bass (Jason Walker), and Reuben Alexander, drums and percussion (Liz Martin Band, William Crichton).
